“Developed in 1996 in the basement studio of the sculpture department at New York University, the Surface to Air jewelry collection is one of the earliest endeavors from the international fashion and art company.”
“The name Fremont comes from the early resort movement of Las Vegas and Palm Springs. We like the idea of everyone having an accessible place where they can escape daily life and getaway somewhere.”
“Beta Unit is an independent clothing label based in Encinitas, California. Focused on wearability, unconventional functionality, and engineering the perfect fit.”
As some of you may or may not know, the associates here at Phoenicia were in Las Vegas last week for market. We were privileged to view some of the freshest most forward designs in contemporary fashion. It is always incredible to see our favorite designers every six months, as they continue to push the envelope of casual menswear. We wanted to show you some of what we think are the best looks coming for spring 2011 (trust it’s not that far away.) Also, we will be getting fall/winter drops from B:Scott, Beta Unit, Wrath Arcane, Fremont, Naked and Famous, Hixsept, and Cash Crop. Be sure to stay up to date as all of our last season is on sale and will be available for purchase online this week.
Our friends over at Grand Scheme have been cooking up some fresh gear for the end of 2010. Continuing with their collaborations, they have enlisted New York photographer Mike Schrieber for a set of tees. As well as handled some great original cut and sew pieces, alongside a new run of five panel hats. We are super stoked for this season so be sure to check out the look book below as well as follow GS on twitter.com/Grandscheme1
You may not be familiar with the spray paint company Ironlak, but I assure you after a couple of minutes watching you will fully understand what they are about. A close associate of ours has recently opened up an online store under the moniker Read The Label Supply and he of course is carrying the best in the game for paint supplies. All in one shop with publications from Gingko Press, alongside KRINK markers, and array of tees and extras. We are stoked to see RTL rise up as one of the leading suppliers for an “Actively Creative” lifestyle.
“Lot of people, you know what I’m sayin, they be gettin misinformed
thinkin everything is everything, that you could just get yourself
a little deal, whatever, youknowhatI’msayin you gonna get on you
gonna get rich. And all these labels be trying to lure us in like
spiders, into the web, knowhatI’msaying. So sometimes people gotta
…come out and speak up, and let people understand, that you know you
gotta read the label you gotta read the label if you don’t read the
label you might get poisoned…” -RZA (LABELS)
This summer we are happy to announce a very special brand that will be brought to the valley exclusively by Phoenicia Association. With iconic tees bearing cinematic references from classics like “Goodfellas” and “Planet of the Apes” this line proved in the early nineties that it was ahead of the curve. Founder Erik Brunetti took a hiatus with the line for a short period and watched the market flood with “streetwear” that resembled, if not directly ripped off, a lot of design he had originally brought to the table. As with any pioneer Mr. Brunetti found new outlets. Staying well ahead of his contemporaries brought him to Japan, where his love for vintage motorcycles and Vietnam War era imagery inspired a line called “SSDD.” He recently collaborated with FABRICK for Medicom on a capsule collection inspired by the camouflage found on M-1 helmet covers. He is to say the least a busy man, and he continues pushing the boundaries with the reemergence of his original line FUCT. The mastermind behind the brand has created a series of short films in which he seamlessly brings to life a product beyond just a t-shirt, while still keeping this new vision shrouded in mystery. This avant garde approach to marketing/branding is exactly what the industry needs, during a time when mediocrity is being rewarded and sold with zero regard for content or quality. We are proud to be a local FUCT dealer and we hope you will continue to support.
“Starting today, boxes are arriving at the studio of the new spring/ summer product. We will post the product(s) over the week. Not to get off track here, but we would really like to take the time and thank the dealers that have supported our brand over the years. You guys are the real outlaws. Without you, we would be nothing. This bud’s for you.” – FUCT
For the past four years, the Cleveland, Ohio based clothing label Wrath Arcane has been steadily growing and gaining more and more supporters. The men’s wear label has consistently delivered with good design and quality fabrics that are all sewn in the USA. Wrath’s founding partner and designer Sean Bilovecky recently delivered a talk at a TED event in Cleveland recounting the past four years of the label and what inspires him to design the clothes. Sean also provides some interesting historical context as to why it is important for him that the business be based in Cleveland. You might be surprised by the answer.
Sean recently spoke with us about an exciting new project the team at Wrath Arcane are working on. We can’t divulge any details just yet but hope to bring you more on the story later this spring. In the mean time, We can reveal that beginning this fall, a women’s line will be available called Proof. The same innovative approach to design and domestically produced manufacturing process will be applied to the new label. Sean has sent us some teaser images of both the new fall Proof line as well as Wrath Arcane. (Excerpt and post originally via PSFK.com)
WRATH ARCANE was started on January 3rd, 2006 when Cleveland boutique owner Brian O’neill called Cleveland designer and long-time friend Sean Bilovecky. “We’re tired of “BIG LABELS” (clothing companies, oil companies, governments, etc.) having so much influence on the ways that people live their lives. WRATH ARCANE taken literally means “secret anger”, or “forgotten rage”. To us it means that people seem to have forgotten the fact that changing their environment for the better will change their lives for the better. We want our customers to feel that they are buying more than just a trendy piece of sportswear. We never want a model to sell our line. That’s why we hide their faces. Too many brands are 90% model, 10% clothing… and 0% about making our industry better. WRATH ARCANE is doing everything in its power to help change the current downward spiral of the apparel production industry in the United States. The label is committed to expanding it’s network of like-minded designers, domestic manufacturers, and environmentally conscious fabric mills. WRATH ARCANE holds true to the ideal that what’s behind the label is equally as important as the garment the label is attached to. WRATH ARCANE is made in USA.” – wratharcane.com
For the upcoming A/W10 season, the Wrath Camp has brought us their new endeavor entitled “War to Restore.” Once again bringing to the table a solid collection that is both well rounded and progressive. This line continues to push the envelope by blending experimental components that provide functionality, as well as a unique aesthetic. This year we saw incredible double zipper concept hoodies, button scarfs, and of course a great selection of detailed wovens. Stay posted for more updates and be on the look out for the Spring drop arriving in the next month. Easy.
