“antigirl is a brand created by artist and designer tiphanie brooke in her teens. over the last decade, her brand and body of work achieved both national and international recognition and an army of admirers.
“she is a multidisciplinary graphic artist who works, lives, and studies in phoenix, arizona. she uses her own concoction of traditional materials as well as techniques that only the luxuries of modern technology can afford. her repertoire includes design/print, illustration, photography, painting, screen printing and a final touch with adobe creative suite. she has a taste for using digitally altered organic works and as such her work raises more questions than it seeks to answer on what is real; lending itself to the development and evolution of a fresh new language of artistic expression with relevance.
“tiphanie is never not working [sic] on antigirl, using her grind as a mirror image of herself. never shy to share a glimpse of her studio, photos of her work from start to finish, are beautiful peeks into her creative process with an artistic presentation, no matter the medium. she works on all types of projects for her clients – specializing in illustration, brand identity/strategy, editorial design and graphic design. some of her clients include; teen vogue, the new york times, showtime networks, computer arts magazine (uk), suicide girls, automata studios, elemente magazine (can), nylon magazine, and the new yorker.
“tiphanie’s work has been in shows from belgium to the bay. her hand sewn babylon beware book gained global notoriety in 2005 while appearing at computerlove for cpluv:offline in brussels, belgium. her first solo show, “tart”, exhibited at uppercase gallery in calgary, canada and featured the debut of her series “women”. she continued to show the iconic “women” series at the ann street gallery in new york and the undercurrent arts in miami in 2007 and 2008.
“in 2009, her hearts collection (2008 – present) transformed into large installation pieces, with the first public showing at phoenix design week (aiga). shortly after its debut tiphanie adapted these pieces for both public and private—collectors and clients. she began experimenting with manual photography and spent as much time in the dark room as possible. in april 2010 she won an award for a deconstructed photo she took for an assignment, which was displayed at the phoenix art museum.
“for the rest of the antigirl decade she is continuing her collection of “hearts” (#1-23) and working on large format mixed media panels, installation pieces and murals… all of which are slated to be showcased at her next solo show in february 2011 at the phoenicia association.”

Rick Kim’s Orgasm Deconstructed: Women
Please join Rick Kim in this intimate photo exhibition gallery disctrict of Phoenix as he presents his show for the first time in Arizona.
New York based fashion photographer Rick Kim focuses his lens on story telling in this new series. His fashion and documentary work has been featured in fashion publications and news editorial.
Orgasm Deconstructed: Women is a preview of Kim’s book in progress exploring the relationship between orgasm, self expression, and self ownership. With a photo narrative of 24 different women in a collection of portraits, he presents his subjects in a raw and honest moment – at the peak of sexual release. These black and white images were all shot in ambient light. All subjects were photographed in their home, in their most comfortable environment. Interviews were conducted with each woman discussing their early sexual experiences and their emotional connection to orgasm.
This is a case study of women and their personal evolution as sexual beings. The goal of this project is to showcase the varying emotions, body language and facial expressions we as humans go through in the release of orgasm. What underlying truths do our involuntary reactions reveal? The focus is on the subject’s awareness of self in this powerful and personal exhibition.
A second collection titled “Men” is planned after the conclusion of this series.
20% of proceeds will be donated to Women for Women.
Opening November 5, from 7-10 p.m.
Orgasm Deconstructed: Women will run through the month of November at Phoenicia Association.
For more about the artist, please visit Rick Kim’s website.
